Westminster Cracker Co. has been making soup crackers since 1828 and are made in their manufacturing plant at the Howe Center in Rutland. Their secret ingredient (aged dough) uses lots of flour-one train car load every day. Handling the flour, the dust from moving it creates a health and fire safety concern, an issue to be addressed.
After surveying the production line for the cracker making process, we designed a dust collection system that will extract the flour dust from where it is generated, passing through an industrial grade dust collector/filter, and returning the clean air back into the building. The system will include custom shop fabricated hoods and heavy-duty ductwork, a 6000 CFM outdoor industrial dust collector, automatic safety controls, and duct mounted gas heaters to provide comfort control in the areas served. This installation will take place later this year.
