The IAQ department completed a large cleaning job over the winter at one of Vermont’s state prisons, Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility (MVRCF) located in Rutland, VT. The prison was completing an HVAC upgrade on their controls and needed our team to restore all the coils and ductwork to be within 90% of the original installation.
All HVAC equipment and ductwork in this facility is located either in a tunnel under the prison or in a crawl space above it. In the attic, approximately 90% of the work was done on roller boards to be able to move around easily, but still required a lot of crawling over and under ductwork to reach all areas.
During the time of cleaning, the prison was at max capacity. The HVAC was shut down during the day and prisoners had to be moved around as our team worked. A great deal of planning was done to make this efficient and effective for both parties to allow us to do our job as well as meeting the needs of the inmates and staff for their daily procedures.
