Randolph, Vermont’s Gifford Medical Center’s Emergency Room had a 30-year-old AHU that was in need of replacement. It had served well beyond its life expectancy and was the perfect time to put something newer in place.
New England Air Systems worked closely with Neagley & Chase on this project and our design team came up with some options, landing on one that was buildable, affordable, and much more efficient. The design and plans would allow for the project to be completed WITHOUT shutting down the Emergency Department, still providing care to patients.
We temporarily fed air to the existing Emergency Department from another AHU so the existing AHU could be removed. New steel was installed to house the replacement Trane AHU unit and equipment curbs were roofed in for the new HP and an energy recovery ventilator. This project began on October 3rd and on October 19th we were able to set the new AHU in place.
After all new equipment was set on the rooftop, we worked in a 2-week window afterwards to get all the piping, ductwork, controls, and electrical complete. The new AHU went online at the end of October.
